  Claud Lloyd, the youngest son of Charley and Mary Speed was born in Marion county, Iowa, August 23, 1889, and died of typhoid fever at Alden hospital, Indianola, October 22, 1917 aged twenty-eight years, one month and twenty-nine days. He was married to Grace Long, January 26, 1910. To t his union were born three children, Florence, Velma and Don. Little Florence preceeded her father to the great beyond some five weeks ago of the same disease. The greater part of Claud's married life was spent in Canada, having lived there seven years, coming back to Iowa last spring. Claud was the favorite of the family, was an upright, honest citizen, square in all his dealings. He was a most dutiful son an affectionate husband, a kind father, a loving brother. He leaves to mourn his death, a wife, two children, a loving father and mother, three brothers and two sisters, and a host of relatives and friends, who will greatly miss his pleasant face and loving smile. Funeral services were held at the home of his mother-in-law, Mrs. Florence Long, Wednesday afternoon, October 24, conducted by Rev. Fred Harris, after which his body was laid to rest in the Indianloa cemetery, there to await the great resurrection.
